orated with baby photos and essential items are provided, such as
a bed, refrigerator, kettle, bottle sterilizer, electric heater as well as
cabinet, tables, green plants and books. Staying there makes the
women feel relaxed and comfortable. The nursery room is also re-
garded as a place for educational exchanges, helping mothers and
new mothers to share baby experiences, which is widely praised
by female employees. The nursery room effectively meets the
needs of female employees of childbearing age, providing the new
mothers and family’s great help and support, offering professional
and humanised warm service for all female employees facing a
special physiological stage in their life.
GAMECO also set up specific physical examination items for
women to help assuring female employees’ body health. From time
to time we carry out “parent-child activities” and open “beautiful
growth” courses, implement EAP specialist training to help women
to better manage their stress on a professional and emotional level.
When it comes to the children’s high school/college entrance ex-
amination, GAMECO gives female employees support by allowing
them to leave work early.
GAMECO has always maintained a positive and open attitude in
the path of women’s career development, helping them to develop
their full professional potential and providing the necessary training.

sitions in our company and they have equal chances to be selected

GAMECO is encouraging more and more women to join the com-
pany. It opens the technology/management career promotion chan-
nel for female employees and encourages more women to develop
their careers in the direction of senior engineers or top management.
Currently the share of female employees in management and senior
management is even higher than their average share of all staff.
Aviation MRO is a labour-intensive industry and its staff ultimately
decides a company ’s competitiveness and success. A mixed team is
in general more comprehensive, more intelligent, more competitive
and more motivated than other teams. A company that makes an
effort to be attractive to women not only hires from a larger pool
of human resources, but it will be also more attractive for male
employees in return.

HALF THE SKY
GAMECO’s mission to “ensure on-time delivery of safe and
reliable aircraft to our customers” seems to work well with
the famous quote from Mao Zedong that “women hold up
half the sky”. But a closer look reveals that GAMECO, like most of the
MRO industry, is still a male- dominated company. Over 90 percent
of its 6,000 employees are male and most of its female employees
are working in administration or support functions. The maintenance
work itself seems to be not attractive enough for women; it is physi-
cally tough, requires shift duty, at times working in confined spaces
and being exposed to the elements.
Nevertheless, GAMECO is always encouraging women to join the
aviation industry and providing equal employment opportunities for
women. Female employees are treated equally and in a motivating
way during the recruitment process, in job advertisements, inter-
views, employment and work arrangements.
As more and more women enter the job market, GAMECO
faces the problem of how it can help its female employees find
the balance between career and family. Here is one example: In
2014, a GAMECO nursery room was set up, offering a separated
breast-feeding and rest area for female employees who are preg-
nant or lactating, where the mothers can relax and adjust their
emotions. The design of the nursery room was developed by the
women themselves. It is arranged in cosy pink, the walls are dec-
